The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was released in the month of July in 2013. It was the miniature version of the then flagship device of Samsung, and featured almost the same features as its bigger brother, but lost some of its essence. The phone costs around $210.
Design & Display
The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini boasts of the same design as the original Samsung Galaxy S4. It consists of a plastic body, thin bezel, and metal baze. All essential buttons like the power button, and volume button remain on the same sides. There is no air gesture sensor placed on the top of the screen, which means that users will not be able to use hover-gestures. With a screen smaller than the original S4, the S4 mini weighs less than the original one. The weight of the phone is 107 grams, and it is really light to hold in the hand. Dimensions of the phone are 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm.

The screen size of the device is 4.3 Inches, and has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, making it a Quad-HD screen, with a pixel per inch density of 256. The screen is a downgrade from the HD screen found on the original S4, but is appears decent. The colors are bright enough, and the viewing angles are decent as well.
Software and Hardware
The Galaxy S4 Mini runs the TouchWiz UI on top of the Android operating system. The performance from the UI is great, however, a number of features are dropped out from the unlocked cellphone such as the Multi-Window support, Air view, the LED light does not flash while charging, and the S-Health Application. The UI feels much cleaner than what’s found in Samsung’s previous devices.
The phone runs on Android Jellybean 4.2.2 Operating system, and is powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, with the processor being Dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300. The graphical processing unit is being powered by Adreno 305 chipset.
As the device comes in three different storage variants, it gives the people a freedom of choice. People can buy one, which falls in their budget, and as the device supports expandable memory, the storage is never an issue in the device. Being packed with a good amount of RAM, multi-tasking also becomes a lot smoother. The unlocked cellphone comes in two storage variants, which are 8/16 GB for installing applications. 1.5 GB of RAM is provided for running applications and multi-tasking between them, and the memory can be expanded up to 64 GB via the use of an external SD card.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is packed with a 8 Megapixel rear-facing camera, capable of clicking photographs of resolution 3264 x 2448 pixels. The camera is equipped with LED flash, and autofocus capabilities. It can also record videos of 1080p at 30 frames per second. A secondary 1.3 Megapixel front-facing camera is also included in the device. Both the cameras are capable of clicking decent shots, and the shutter speed is quite good.
The unlocked cellphone supports a 1900 mAh battery, which can last an entire day with moderate amount of usage. Along with an optimized UI, and the latest Android’s battery saving capabilities, the phone is able to provide a decent standby time.
